Mediterranean stone patio idea in San Francisco with a fire pit and a roof extension. The first step was to debark both stumps with a hand chisel and use a rotary hammer and it took about five minutes to debark. The stump as level as possible, mark the same length around the entire circumference then use Makita reciprocating saw with Milwaukee saw blade. Originally used a 12-inch blade but realize didn’t have as much control of this link so switch it to a 9-inch blade. This worked fairly well and then use a belt sander to clean up the rest. Attached a wire cut brush to a drill driver to remove some of the stringy strands from the side. Lastly kept sanding the wood starting at 60 grit going to 220 grit. there is some small spaces that couldn’t get with our orbital sander. Sanded those with the Dremel the Jermel was a sanding attachment it’s great for getting around all those little details on the stump. The stump had some deep cracks on the top, fill that with clear epoxy.
